Baby Milo....the early days

So after a long time of trying and waiting....and some more waiting Milo finally arrived! he was born on the 15/11 at 3.47pm and weighed 6 pounds 14. So far it's been a crazy roller coaster of emotions....elation, relief that Khila was ok after the operation and just being overwhelmed!!! I though I knew what was in store and what to expect but it didn't come close.

so far he's been a really good boy, he sleeps lots and is very quiet!..he's so still in his little carry cot! I had most of last week off which was nice to be able to be at the hospital with Khila and Milo and help out after he was born.

milo's grandma Jane has helped us all out a lot!..she's pretty much a saint! and is obsessed with lil Milo or m-dog as he's affectionately known in our house! he's lucky to have a big sis who loves him! (very enthusiastic), he's came to sunday lunch at grandma Jane's and spent a long time on his granddads knee, and more importantly met Spike and Remy ( the dogs) and all went smoothly! phew.

As of right now it's a blur of bottle sterilising and teeny clothes, for lil Milo, he's insanely cute and he's definitely going to be a character! we're just happy to have him in our lives.

Nursery

Khila has uploaded Milo's nursery tour today so you can find that here..

I think we have everything now. She keeps coming up with more stuff we need, I'm sure we don't.. Do we really need a bath thermometer? Really? What's wrong with my elbow?

You may already know via Khila's blog that the C-Section is booked for 15/11 (just 18 days from now) There are still lots of things we have to organise, one of those is what we're taking to hospital. She's made her lists and I've been instructed to make mine.

Things that I plan to take to hospital:

  • Comfy clothes
  • A pillow + Blanket
  • The Macbook
  • Iphone and charger
  • Snacks (Pringles etc)
  • Towel
  • Toothbrush and toiletries etc
  • Possibly Red Bull
  • Camera, and charger
  • Extra batteries
  • DVD'S
  • Magazine / Book

Am I missing anything? I've never done this before.

Step-Parenting

You all probably know Ella already, she's quite the youtube star and budding personality. Anyhoo back to the main reason of my post.......step parenting!. Firstly i can tell you it's not easy and to be honest i didn't ever expect it to be. One of the reasons is what role do you actually play in your step childs life? how are you supposed to discipline or lay ground rules for a child who already has a mum and dad to do that?. And also in our situation the impending arrival of baby Zach and will that affect our group dynamic...? Firstly what role..this is tricky as Ella has her parents already and has equal time with both so my role is more one of her friend but always encourge her to be doing the right things, and kinda take a back seat if im honest as there is already a parenting team in place. I know this is going to be so much more difficult when the baby comes and i'll be responsible for him...i'm hoping its a smooth transition!eek. Fortunately we have been really lucky so far and Ella is a generally well behaved kid who's very intelligent and we get on well and have a good relationship, infact she often gets up early to watch UFC on weekends while we leave mummy to have a lie in!lol. I'm no expert on step parenting by any means but in conclusion, it can sometimes be hard but more than worth it..

Work, work, work

Ok so just to let you all know im currently on 'garden leave' which unfortunately is the result of my last company closing our regional office. I wont tell you what my job was as its far too dull and complicated, anyhoo it was my first official day of garden leave today and instead of relaxing or laying in knowing im currently getting paid for nothing, i was up at the crack of dawn for an interview for a new and more lucrative job offer. I have a further 3 interviews lined up this week also, i know it may sound sad but i enjoy work, i enjoy doing a good job. My question is would you cut garden leave short to start a new job and earn a potential extra wage one month or take the full month off to relax as its paid anyway???

What's In A Name?

I discovered once I'd started this blog that I had less to say on the subject of babies than I thought...
It also penned me in so I wasn't able to blog about topics that I actually did have something to say about. With this in mind I have changed the name of my blog to "Life According To Lee" Given the few followers I have right now I figure it will have little to no impact on people missing my posts.. hopefully it doesn't cause any disruption for those of you that do read. You can expect more frequent posts now that my horizons have been broadened,

Fighting Fashion

Ok so with the impending arrival of little Zachary we've been looking at tons and tons of boy clothes which I've got to be honest some of them are pretty awesome! here is just a little snapshot of what we have come across..
I think everyone can agree baby grows are cute but this little baby sleeping bag thingy is soo cool;

Pretty cool right?...and finally just cost I'm a huge UFC freak....
The last one is quite fitting as Khila said he's constantly practicing his kicks!lol

All in all everyone is really excited to dress him up already, Ella has already put herself forward to be in charge of dressing the baby and playing with him she's nominated mummy to help in this task with the additional task of cuddling him. I however have been nominated for nappy changing and sick duty...yikes!
The time is literally flying by and he'll be here before we know it!...and we can't wait!

Lame Baby Name?

Firstly i would like to say a big hello to my new followers!...hello! This week and probably every week since we found out we were having a boy we've been stressing about names. Its such a big responsibility, he's going to have to live with it for the rest of his life so we have to get it right...no pressure! :o
You name it we've probably considered it as a name, some we agreed on and some not so much..kash and chase for example which i think are really cool but khila didnt share my enthusiasm! Probably for the best as we live in england not LA! One name we were stuck on for a while was Dylan which we all liked....except Ella!aaarghh!. Another problem choosing a baby name..keeping everyone happy! Anyhoo enough rambling,we've pretty much settled on Zachary Lee Michael which we like and no doubt loads of people will hate but hey ho thats life!.....thoughts?

PS. You can now tweet me @babydaddyblog
(I am so down with the kids)

Bye for now

Vegas Baby

As most of you guys already know Khila and I have booked to go to Las Vegas next March which is when we are going to get married!!... and to be honest i can hardly wait!! :) We're going to be there for a week and are staying at the Signature at The MGM Grand which looks amazing. it's just going to be us two so no big ceremony or worrying about pleasing other people, we're doing it just for us. After hours of research (by Khila) we have found what we think is the perfect one for us, The Chapel Of The Bells It looks really cool (classic vegas tacky) outside and really nice inside. Now it's all booked i just cant wait for us to go! it's going to be awesome!...getting married to the most amazing lady.. and in LasVegas as we have planned all along. I'm a VERY lucky guy!!! When we make more plans I will blog more about it. We have a general idea of outfits etc but with Vegas pretty much anything goes so there's such cope for everything. If you have any suggestions or any tips that might be helpful please leave me a comment!

It's a BOY?

After our initial shock that we were having a baby boy ( i was convinced we were having a girl ) but I'm happy we're having a little dude! the only tough part at the moment is a name which is a whole other story, a couple of current contenders include Alexander ( Alex, Lex, Xander ), Dylan, Lucas and Max but these change daily. I think we'll know when we see him what his name should be....I like Kash, or Chase also but these may be a little out there!..  Another thing that's cool about having a boy is the clothes. Initially I was drawn more to baby girl stuff but there are some really funky suits for baby boys and I get to dress it like a little mini-me too. All in all we have waited a long time to meet him so he will be much appreciated when he finally arrives.

Our Scan

Incase you haven't already seen this on Khila's blog or youtube channel here's the video we got of our 12 week scan. It's probably the only pre-birth preview we'll get on tape now so I thought I'd share it with you.
